چکیده

Laurel (Laurus nobilis L.) is a strict endemic species of natural vegetation the Mediterranean region, which known for its medicinal, aromatic, forestry, ornamental and culinary properties. This produces valuable essential oil (EO). The content EO composition depend on different factors, e.g., genetic, cultural practices environmental conditions. Among these, salt stress major limiting factor, affects almost all plant functions. Similar to oils (EOs), biotic abiotic stresses may stimulate or inhibit emission volatile compounds (VCs) in materials, suggesting that these substances can be responsible defense strategies. Therefore, an experiment was conducted assess effect NaCl concentrations (0, 50, 100 150 mM) irrigation water VCs laurel leaves. Our results showed affected metabolites compounds, mainly ones. For instance, 1,8-cineole linalool were negatively by high salinity levels, while opposite observed α-terpenyl acetate methyl eugenol. proportion grouped also differed among studied treatments. relative oxygenated monoterpenes monoterpene hydrocarbons, respectively first second largest groups, decreased with increasing concentration. Differently, amount sesquiterpene hydrocarbon group increased, especially at mM NaCl. These findings indicate cultivation marginal lands, characterized low-quality water, must carefully evaluated because it significantly varies quality products.
